Back in the 1990s the world was a different place - not many people had cellphones, the Internet was still in its early stages, while people watched TV and read newspapers instead of watching streaming services or social media. Game Where is Caroline? catches that atmosphere in an unusual mixture of 1990s sitcom Caroline in the City and a retro game called Agent USA.
One of the main themes of Caroline in the City was the story of two people, who don’t seem to be able to tell each other they are in love. This element was in the game mixed with the 1980s Atari game Agent USA, in which we, as the protagonist, had to rush through the United States in order to disarm a bomb. In a similar style, in this interactive novel we chase after Caroline, who will get married in two weeks, so we have only about 14 days to find her and tell her that we are madly in love with her, and she should not marry her fiancée.
But while Agent USA could only travel using trains, in Where is Caroline? we have a wide range of transport options, from walking to rented cars, subway and planes. The goal is simple find and convince Caroline to call off the wedding within the time limit, but we are also limited by money (we need cash to buy tickets, rent cars, etc) and our own body - with every bit of the travel we are getting tired, which means we need to find time to get some sleep or rest.
The game is very simple, but once you start the game it is surprisingly addictive when you run around the country in hope the information you just got is true and up to date.
