Title: Xpert Eleven
Year introduced: 2004
Country of origin: Sweden
Languages: English
While developed at the same time as Hattrick was becoming the top game of the genre, Xpert Eleven had a completely different approach to the player parameters that sounds silly, but was in a way a good idea. In Xpert Eleven, player positions are assigned only as goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and striker without definition on which side of the field he is playing, so in tactics you put for example 4 defenders, and it does not matter which one of them will be playing as central defender or wingback. But that is not the end of simple solutions - just like in German games, the player is described by only one skill parameter and only one form parameter, the combination of those two determines the player’s performance in the game.
But each player also has a set of special parameters, some of them are skills (f.e. he is fast, has powerful shot), but some of them describe the way he acts (f.e. he is greedy or has a big mouth) or describe his character (f.e. he is a leader or is intelligent). An additional parameter describes the way he fits into the team or with which players he will more likely to play better. All the additional parameters are similar to the classic On The Ball: World Cup Edition and just like in the original game, they unfortunately are hard to follow while you are making decision about team selection - there is simply too much information to take under consideration and extremely short match report does not help either.
The league system is rather typical pyramid, but there is another interesting bit - apart from the official league you can join several private leagues and play simultaneously, although you have separate team for each of them.
Overall, a simple game that was inspired by Anstoss / On the Ball games and added some twists to those classics. Unfortunately, the game has very little options available (sort-of training, transfers and... that is about it).
