The CEO of Embracer Group, Lars Wingefors, will step down of his post soon. Why is it important? It isn’t.

Lars Wingefors, the controversial CEO of a controversial company Embracer Group, will be replaced this summer. Who Lars Wingefors is? He is the genius behind the strategy of bulk buys of gaming studios in the past several years, which lead to mass lay-offs when it turns out that having a lot of studios is not a great idea. Or to put it in other words, he was the idiot, who started the insane demolition of the market for no particular reason, other than hope to make some extra money.
But ruined careers of hundreds of game developers were not the only achievements of Lars Wingefors, he also came up with a completely new idea, to make smaller games, but better. Of course, he dropped the idea just weeks later, and opted for increase of the game prices instead.
Lars Wingefors will certainly be missed. I guess. If you stretch your imagination a lot. Will his removal from Embracer Group make any difference? Unlikely. Will the new guy bring back sanity? Highly unlikely.

Just two months ago, CEO of Embracer Group, Lars Wingefors said in an interview (after selling / closing quite a few studios) that his company will now concentrate on smaller and better games. Guess what! Of course, he changed his mind already. His new plan is even better!
The earthquake called restructuring of a beloved company seems to come to an end. After selling a few studios, laying off over 1300 people, cancelling some upcoming titles, the CEO of Embracer Group has come up with a bold strategy for the future - he is going to make better games!
I recently revisited old British sitcom called Cowboys, about inept builders taking jobs they are not qualified for, doing them as quickly and as cheaply as possible and then running away with the money. Few days later GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition premiered and I got the strange feeling of deja vu.
While MrBeast keeps digging himself deeper into scandal surrounding his dubious practices (no, not manipulating his underage audience, but for organizing lotteries which broke the law), there is one voice visibly missing from this whole situation.
And I’m not sure if this is a good news or a bad news. I’m not even sure if I still care.
