The economy is in the heart of all your decisions - you need mines to gather resources, you can sell them to other colonies, so you can have afford expansion of your colony and build your own position in the area. Once you build your fleet of spaceships you can attack the enemies to steal their resources or take part in series of missions. But there are more ways to interact with other colonies - you can use cyber attacks, support your allies, try to reach higher level in the Galaxy.
