Just like with original Micropolis / SimCity, the goal is to build up your town. To achieve it you can set up pieces of land to be used for residential, commercial or industrial purposes. Apart from that, you have to cover the usual role of the local government - set the taxes level, build electricity source, provide police and fire department protection for the residents, build the roads and rail so they could travel around.
Of course, MicropolisJS does not cover some elements of the original games, but it is completely free to play, it is open source and it is available in your browser.
