It is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt of it. Could someone pass this quote to Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney?
Tim Sweeney, too busy fighting Internet over the benefits if AI for the gaming industry, missed the perfect moment to shut the f*** up and maintain the shreds of dignity he still possesses. I know, it is highly debatable that after past few years Tim Sweeney has any dignity left, but each time he tries to convince the world how beneficial the AI would be to humanity he just proves times and times again that he is in fact a fool.
After some brilliant points that he made against Steam forcing publishers to disclose use of AI in the process of making their games, such as "perhaps they should publish as well what kind of shampoo the developers use" (paraphrased quote) without understanding that unless you power your computer using a shampoo, the kind of shampoo the developers use is completely irrelevant, he keeps digging himself deeper and deeper into insanity and hypocrisy.
His latest idea is that forcing people to publicly admit using AI in the process of creating the game is political. He was so proud of his "vibe-coded" new launcher for Epic Store that he had to shout it out to the world few weeks back. While the crowd went mild to the news, he started crusade to save those poor other developers from having their moment of glory? If he is so proud of his launcher why the others should not disclose that they did the same?
If you think this makes him a hypocrite, you are completely wrong! Take example of the browser-based Fortnite port that was vibe-coded using the reversed-engineering and published few weeks back. Epic used the DMCA takedown earlier this month to stop them and quoted "use Fortnite IP without permission or compensation". Would that make him a hypocrite? Nah. I mean, not stealing their assets and just vibe-coding the whole thing should be illegal, right? How dare somebody stealing from company that is stealing from somebody else? The nerve!
Is there a way someone could convince Tim Sweeney that he made enough money already, he can drop the superhero act and just shut the f*** up? I think he could just hire someone to stop him from making a fool of himself. It would be a hard job, but he must be loaded from all those years of taking money from parents of the Fortnite players, right?
