Wargaming shuts down a game

Wargaming, the infamous company behind titles like World of Tanks and World of Warships announced that they are about to shut down one of their titles. And not the one you think.

Wargaming shuts down a game

No, it is not the World of Warplanes, which (more or less) died of natural causes years ago, it is in fact Steel Hunters. No, I haven’t heard about that one either. So what is (for now) Steel Hunters? It is a free-to-play extraction shooter in a futuristic universe, where giant mechs fight each other. Exciting isn’t?

I guess not, because about 4500 players gave this title a try on Steam premiere (in April) and by now (July) the number of peak players have dropped below 100. I know it’s easy to mock Wargaming for their predatory techniques in their games and their really, really bad decisions they made in the past few years, but closing down a new game after 3 months is impressive. And let’s not forget - it couldn’t happen to better guys than Wargaming.

To be fair, they are not the single company to failed to notice that extraction shooters market is already full to the brim, they just noticed it way too late. Unfortunately for them, it looks like people who knew what they were doing had left Wargaming years ago.

Cyberpunk 2077 is getting better

Or to be precise slightly better. For some users. Yes, CD Projekt Red, finally came up with patch 1.5 and... it’s still far, far, far from what was expected from the game.

Never mind, the revolution is off!

Just two months ago, CEO of Embracer Group, Lars Wingefors said in an interview (after selling / closing quite a few studios) that his company will now concentrate on smaller and better games. Guess what! Of course, he changed his mind already. His new plan is even better!

Sam Altman lied... again

Sam Altman, your favourite CEO of OpenAI, lied again. In other news, bears apparently do defecate mainly in the forested areas.

Bethesda has done it again

Bethesda has done it again, and no one is surprised. Yes, they shot themselves in the foot and soon they will run out of feet to sacrifice. This time it was the Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition.

Mind-boggling indifference or just cynically evil?

Trainwreck, one of the more prominent Twitch streamers, just started a new platform for "content creators", called Kick and it aims to provide the best possible environment for the streamers. Sounds great, but it is not true.

Some people will never learn

CD Projekt announced that an early stage of work on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 has started and, to quote a classic, it’s déjà vu all over again.

EA is still the king

EA is still the king

For decades now EA was the icon of a company that does not care about anyone or anything. And now, after a success of Battlefield 6, they has proven they can be even worse than you could expect.

And one to ruin them all - Fallout 4

And one to ruin them all - Fallout 4

Today something completely different - a nostalgia piece about a game from 2015 (ancient history for some) that was not in any way a bad game, but incorporated one bad idea that ruined all the good id...
