Wargaming, the infamous company behind titles like World of Tanks and World of Warships announced that they are about to shut down one of their titles. And not the one you think.

No, it is not the World of Warplanes, which (more or less) died of natural causes years ago, it is in fact Steel Hunters. No, I haven’t heard about that one either. So what is (for now) Steel Hunters? It is a free-to-play extraction shooter in a futuristic universe, where giant mechs fight each other. Exciting isn’t?
I guess not, because about 4500 players gave this title a try on Steam premiere (in April) and by now (July) the number of peak players have dropped below 100. I know it’s easy to mock Wargaming for their predatory techniques in their games and their really, really bad decisions they made in the past few years, but closing down a new game after 3 months is impressive. And let’s not forget - it couldn’t happen to better guys than Wargaming.
To be fair, they are not the single company to failed to notice that extraction shooters market is already full to the brim, they just noticed it way too late. Unfortunately for them, it looks like people who knew what they were doing had left Wargaming years ago.

Wargaming, company behind World of Tanks, World of Warships and World of Warplanes, is known for its predatory marketing approach towards customers, so article like this is nothing new or nothing surprising, but there might be people unfamiliar with the topic, so... Yeah, there are things that need to be said.
