Online multiplayer game that on surface looks like a very simple walking simulator. And in fact it is - players just walk into a suburban houses, farmhouses or abandoned schools to look for ghosts. Armed with not that sophisticated equipment, like thermometers, crucifixes or UV lights they look for clues to guess what kind of ghost actually is haunting this particular place. It sounds like nothing special - it all has been done before - walking in the dark with flashlight, slightly creepy surroundings, weird noises in the background. But Phasmophobia turned out to be one of the best selling games of 2020 and for a reason.

First of all there are more than one forms of communication with the spirits, different equipment gives different clues to the nature of the ghost and then... And then something whispers in your ear, starts to switch light on and off or just plain and simply snaps your neck. Phasmophobia is a very immersive game, where nothing much happens, there is a spooky atmosphere around the house, there are some eerie paintings or photos on the walls, but overall it is a walking simulator. But things start to happen it turns into full blown horror game.

While the game is cooperation online game, where players form teams of up to four members, it can be played by single player (especially in smaller locations), although it is significantly harder than playing in group. With each mission gathered money and experience can be turned into more sophisticated equipment and more complex maps, but the basic rules of the game remains the same - detect the ghost, find out what kind of ghost that is and, most important, run like hell back to your van.

Phasmophobia, an indie game, proved that even the simple and a bit clunky steering or interface, not very inspired graphics, can not spoil a great idea for a game.
