Due to Russian aggression on Ukraine the development of Stalker 2, a highly anticipated sequel to Stalker series games, has been suspended.
That information is hardly surprising news since main office of the developer, GSC Game World, is located in Kiev, capital city of Ukraine. According to the GSC they could go on with development, but in current situation it is more important for their team members to take care of their families and keep them safe than concentrate on Stalker 2.
It’s hard to argue with the GSC statement - what is going on in Ukraine is hardly a normal circumstances to work by any means and no game is more important than safety of your loved ones.
According to GSC Game World they will not give up on development of Stalker 2 and after the war end they will deliver the title. That statement however, as encouraging as it may sound, brings back the problem I mentioned times and times again - don’t pay money for product that might never be delivered.
While I wish the best to Ukrainians in their fight for freedom and independence from evil empire next door, it is possible that Stalker 2 will never be finished or will be finished in 5 or 10 years time. I know that mention of money at times like this sounds tactless to say the least, but I only mention it as a simple reminder - paying for something that might be one day delivered to you makes no sense. Like in this case - it is not GSC Game World fault that the madman started the war, it is not their fault the progress was stopped, but still they won’t be able to fulfil their obligations.
If you paid already for Stalker 2 you might one day get the game you paid for, now millions of Ukrainians are in desperate situation, you could give that money to f.e. Red Cross that is helping them, and actually make a difference in this world. But you already spent it. On a video game. That might never be delivered.

We just gained some details of the upcoming Stalker 2 (or rather S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2) game, but it is scarce info to be honest. And that makes me fear it will be a failure on premiere. Here is why...
After 3 years since the moment we first had the chance to buy Stalker 2, it seems like the game finally is reaching... a quite early stage of production. At least that is the conclusion of the newest video, which shows 12 seconds of gameplay. Or rather "gameplay"...
This news creates mixed feelings in me - I want to make a smug face and repeat "I told you so!" and at the same time I wish this news was not true. Yes, it is Stalker 2 again. Yes, it’s bad news again. No, I’m not surprised. During the Gamescom 2023 a new trailer of the title was shown and... let’s just say it wasn’t received well.
Almost 3 months ago I was worried that Stalker 2 might be a huge disappointment for several reasons. Now, that developers showed us the gameplay trailer, lots and lots of red flags popped up on this project that made me feel smug and important...
Just two months ago, CEO of Embracer Group, Lars Wingefors said in an interview (after selling / closing quite a few studios) that his company will now concentrate on smaller and better games. Guess what! Of course, he changed his mind already. His new plan is even better!
Abermore, one of the dozens, if not hundreds, of titles that premiered in recent days on Steam made me think that the end of an era is near. Yes, you guessed it, Abermore is a steaming pile of garbage. To be fair it is not the only one and not the worst one that I have seen recently.
Gamer Network, parent company of such publications as Eurogamer, Gemesindustry.biz, Rock Paper Shotgun, Dicebreaker and few more, finally was acquited by IGN Entertainment. And, of course, they starte...
YouTube is about to crack down on one, tiny aspect of their platform, which might lead to beginning of the end for this giant streaming provider.
